A true Leader is a Servant
Leadership is the act of sacrificing personal convenience for the well-being of the vision to others.
In other words, servant leaders place the interests and needs of their followers ahead of their own self-interests and needs.
Generally, they value the development of their followers, building their communities, acting authentically, and sharing power.
Servant is a compound word: Serve Ant.
You need to understand the nature of an Ant, for you to master what it takes to be servant.
Ants are selfless. A man needs to be selfless in order to become an effective servant.
I did a research and I found some amazing traits about Ants:
Ants are very social insects, and they divide jobs among different types of ants in each colony.
The queen or queens have only one job - to lay eggs.
All other female ants are workers; they feed the larvae, take out the colony's trash, forage for food and supplies, or defend the nest.
Male ants' only job is to mate with the queen.
Once underground, the queens will not eat for weeks – until they have produced their own daughter workers.
They use energy from their fat stores and redundant flight muscles to lay their first batch of eggs, which they fertilize using sperm stored from their nuptial flight.
It is the same stock of sperm acquired from long dead males that allows a queen to continue laying fertilized eggs for her entire life. Queens never mate again.
To protect their nest from invaders, some worker ants make the ultimate act of self-sacrifice: They explode, releasing a toxic fluid from their abdomens to kill the intruder and, in the process, themselves.
Ants Value Teamwork
A single ant can only do so much, but when they work as a team, they are able to achieve greater heights!
Ants don’t just leave their “fellow ants“ alone when carrying huge objects, they help each other, making it possible for them to achieve their goals.
Ants Are Organized
Isn’t it amazing how even when there are so many ants carrying a single object, they seem to be moving the same direction?
They are so organized in how they carry out their tasks that they are able to accomplish it no matter how big the task is.
Ants Save for Rainy Days
I’m sure that even you’ve seen it yourself. Ants don’t just eat on the spot even when they see a HUGE Chicken BLT Sandwich they try to carry the food to their ant colony and save-up for the rainy days.
Ants Get the Job Done
I’ve never seen a group of ants leave what they’re carrying and just call it a day! They persevere and make sure that they get the job done!
Whether they work in shifts or they have some magical way of transporting huge objects, that’s just minor details. The main point is they get the job done in the end.
Do not vote someone into office because of his serve-lion potential or serve-parrot potential.
Ants are awesome creatures as they are, but when humans get organized and work towards achieving one goal, they can move mountains!
I urge you to take the time and reflect about the traits that these ants have, and how you can apply them to your business.
